Shenandoah County Department of Fire and Rescue, Fire Marshal Division, is issuing a temporary ban on open-air burning due to extremely dry conditions in the County. This includes, but is not limited to, bonfires, brush burning, and the use of fire pits that could present a fire risk.

Why the Ban?
The recent dry weather has created dangerous fire conditions across the county, significantly increasing the risk of wildfires. Local fire departments are on alert, and county officials are urging everyone to exercise extreme caution and adhere to all fire-related restrictions.
Alternatives to Open-Air Burning:
- Use outdoor grills only in areas that are clear of dry grass and brush.
- Consider using propane fire pits or electric alternatives if you wish to enjoy a fire in a safe manner.
